STABILO wicks for container candles mounted on holders
STABILO waxed wicks are designed for container candles. Their flat structure with integrated pure cotton bundles gives them excellent burning stability. They are compatible with a wide range of formulations: paraffin waxes, natural oils, vegetable fats and wax blends, making them a particularly versatile wick.
Lead-free and with no metal core, STABILO wicks are ideal for designers who want to work with a variety of formulations while maintaining optimum flame consistency. Their coating promotes ignition and contributes to the stability of combustion over time.
Coated with natural soy wax, these wicks guarantee a clean burn.
These Stabilo series wicks replace certain ECO wick references:
- Stabilo 2 replaces Eco 0.2 (30 – 35 mm 120 mm).
- Stabilo 3 replaces Eco 0.50 (35 – 50 mm 120 mm).
- Stabilo 4 replaces Eco 0.75 (50 – 54 mm 120 mm).

How do I choose the size of my STABILO wick?
The choice of wick size depends on the diameter of the container used, the fragrance dosage and the presence of any colourants.
The more fragrance, colouring or dense vegetable wax a candle contains, the larger the wick size may need to be. In this case, you should choose one or two sizes larger than those shown in our table.
Please note that our correspondence table is based on creations without added fragrance or colouring.
| Diameter of your container | Suitable wick reference |
|---|---|
| 30 to 35 mm | STABILO 2 |
| 35 to 40 mm | STABILO 3 |
| 40 to 43 mm | STABILO 4 |
| 43 to 46 mm | STABILO 5 |
| 46 to 50 mm | STABILO 6 |
| 50 to 53 mm | STABILO 7 |
| 53 to 55 mm | STABILO 8 |
| 55 to 57 mm | STABILO 10 |
| 57 to 60 mm | STABILO 12 |
| 60 to 65 mm | STABILO 14 |
| 65 to 70 mm | STABILO 16 |
| 70 to 73 mm | STABILO 18 |
| 73 to 75 mm | STABILO 20 |
| 80 to 85 mm | STABILO 22 |
| 87 to 90 mm | STABILO 28 |
The diameter of our containers is indicated in the technical details of the product sheets.
- Wick too small = tunnel effect or flame extinction.
- Wick too large = excessive flame, smoke or overheating of container.
- A suitable wick = melts the wax over the entire diameter with a height of 10 mm (pool).
Combustion tests are still essential to determine which candle wick is best suited to your formulation.
If you are in any doubt about your choice, we recommend that you consult our guides to choosing a candle wick.
Our advice on using STABILO wicks
To attach your wick to the holder, pour about 2 mm of melted wax into the bottom of the container and immediately place the wick in the centre, making sure it is straight. Wait about 15 seconds for the wax to solidify and anchor the wick in position.
You can alsouse a self-adhesive tablet or a special sticky wax for an even quicker installation.
After pouring your candle, be sure to leave about 7 mm of wick visible on the surface.
Before each use, shorten the wick to 5 mm to ensure a clean, even burn. Avoid draughts and light the first wick long enough to obtain a uniform pool of wax over the entire surface.
For larger diameters, several wicks may be needed to ensure complete and even combustion.
